Silver On The River
Caught Thursday 8th March.
Mr Ronnie Fraser with Newtyle Beat's first fly caught fish of the 2018 season. A stunning 20lb beauty from the Cotter. Ronnie should have been fishing on the lower Tay, but due to the Isla being in flood he was unable to. He dropped into Newtyle on his way home!

Caught Thursday 8th March.
Meikleour Fishing. Three fish from 9 to 17lbs caught so far today in the Castle Pool. Brothers Tony and Stephen Flanagan caught two fly caught springers yesterday, a 10lb'er and his older brother Stephen a 17lb'er.

London Bound Fin And Game
Fin & Game will be at the London Fly Fishing Show taking the largest stand (47/48) over looking the casting ponds.
The leading names in the world of fishing will be on the Fin & Game stand along with some exclusive special offers and deals for salmon and trout rods, reels, lines, etc.
Hardy will be represented by John Henderson. Steve Petersen from Fly Fish Europe will also be there offering advice on Simms, Scott Fly rods and Lamson Reels.
Mikael Frodin is flying over from Scandinavia, exclusively for Fin & Game. He will be tying salmon flies on the stand along with offering advice.

Steve Chance is bringing with him the largest range of Costa Sunglasses to be found in London. Where ever you are fishing this year, he will have the glasses that work best for your fishing environment.

Munster Blackwater

Caught 2nd March.
Another fine fish caught on the Blackwater. Glenda Powell and her fellow guide Noel, with another fine fish on the Blackwater Salmon Fishery which was sealiced and returned.

River Ness

Caught Friday 2nd March.
FishPal rod, Archie Richie, braved the bitterly cold weather and was rewarded with a well deserved 15 pound River Ness 'spring' salmon from Dochfour Fishing - find fishing.

River Tay

Caught Monday 5th March.
A cracking spring salmon was caught just before lunch in the Cawn Pore on the fly. Well done Steven Flanagan fishing Pitlochrie beat River Tay.
The Lower river saw a few fish being landed last week with Catholes featuring earlier in the week. Much further up river, Islamouth continues to do well with a good height for the beat just below the mouth of the Isla. The Upper area has also featured last week, as fish moved up the system, giving everyone hope of landing one of these memorable fish - read more.

Beauly Angling Club

Beauly Angling Club celebrated the opening of the river at the Downie fishing hut. The river was blessed by their Chairlady Wendy Harpe. This is the first time in the club's history that a lady has been voted to the position.

Wendy is also a successful angler.

River Tweed

Caught Monday 5th March.
Monday morning and Ritchie Gallager was out on the Tweed at Junction. He caught both fish that day on Junction. A memorable day with a stunning 20lb'er and 14lb'er to his rod.

Spey Fishing Festival

Anne Henderson with her first salmon caught at last years ladies festival.
This year's guest casting instructors for the third Ladies Fishing Festival organised by the River Spey Anglers Association have been announced. They are world spey casting champions and instructors Ian Gordon, Scott Mackenzie and David Mateer. During the two day event, 26 ladies will fish the waters of Knockando Estate and Gordon Castle Estate, with the help of casting instructors, ghillies and guides from the River Spey Anglers Association. All monies raised from this 2 day event will be used by RSAA to introduce young people to fishing.

Claire Mercer Nairne and Meikleour Fishing hosted a delegation from Sweden keen to learn about marketing a rural tourism business with fishing at it's heart.
The River and Lochs Institute are hosting an evening with Prof Huge Cheape MBE. The lecture is titled 'Bringing the Evidence of Gaelic and Material Culture to Freshwater Ecology.
