FishPal were in London at the weekend taking part in a discussion on the future of salmon. The programme was part of a 24 hour broadcast to celebrate World Fishing Day.
During the week we asked anglers on our Facebook pages to send in questions for the programme and share their fishing photos and news on World Fishing Day.
As with all live shows, the time to answer questions is limited, so Mark Cockburn has instructed us to get answers on the questions you have sent in, and during the coming weeks we will add these to the FishPal blog and share them across social media to continue the discussion.
The first question we received was "How do the Atlantic Salmon Trust know for every 100 salmon that leave our rivers only 5 return. Where did they get these figures from?" Thank you to Sarah Bayley Slater for the answer.
On Friday the FishPal team will be attending the Scottish Game Fair at Scone Palace. We are looking forward to meeting the Atlantic Salmon Trust on Fishermans Row and watching fly casting demonstrations in the main arena by Scott Mackenzie, Andrew Toft and Glenda Powell.
This weekend is the annual Sea Trout Festival organised by FishPal's Tom Carter. He has spent weeks speaking with owners, angling clubs, guides and ghillies so we can bring you free fishing events.

Fish Dee
Last week was the best week of the Dee season so far with 117 and many more lost. If conditions had been reasonable, the number would have been greater. Anglers success again will rely heavily on late evening and fishing into the night during this hot weather - read more.
The "Osprey" Iain Wilson of Borders Gunroom was fishing the Dee last week. Iain and his party fished Cairnton and Middle Blackhall and Lower Woodend and finished on eleven Salmon and five sea trout, with at least the same number lost!

Salmon Talk
Northumberland branch of the Salmon & Trout Conservation are hosting their annual lecture evening on Thursday 5th July. The event will include talks on salmon and conservation from S&TCUK CEO Paul Knight and Matt Newton from the Atlantic Salmon Trust.

Fish Tay
90 salmon were landed last week. The middle river enjoyed some excellent fishing following the increase in river levels. Kercock continued its recent success with 10 fish, including 5 on Thursday. The Murthly and Glendelvine beats had a much better week with 11 fish between them. Dalmarnock had 5 for the week including a fish of 23 pounds. Dalguise caught 3 up to 11 pounds - read more.
Dalguise and Dalmarnock beats on the River Tay are taking part in this years Sea Trout Festival. A short drive down the road, Stirling Council will be hosting their event on the Teith at Callander. For more information on all these beats please follow the link.
This year the River Tay closes on Monday 15th October. The river is renowned for its record breaking fish, e.g. Georgina Ballantyne, 7th October 1922, caught the biggest rod caught salmon in the UK at 64lb. Sea Trout Festival

The eagerly awaited Sea Trout Festival is only days away. The conditions this weekend should be perfect, unlike last year when many events were cancelled due to torrential rain. In low water this elusive fish remains inactive during the day and comes alive when the light begins to fade.
We have focused on sea trout in this week's newsletter, to bring you the latest fishing reports for this festival weekend.
Border Esk: A much better week for catches with good numbers of sea trout now being caught. The Buccleuch Estate and Border Esk Angling Club are taking part in the festival - read more.
River Nith: Andy from Blackwood and Dalswinton reports sea trout have arrived and are now showing in many pools. Well worth an evening trip out as the fishing has been light. The following beats are taking part in this weekend's festival: Barjarg, Blackwood, Dalswinton, Dumfries Burgh - book a place.
River Annan: The long-term forecast suggests that we will enjoy good sea trout fishing conditions into next week with warm, settled evenings. The following beats are taking part in the festival: Cleuchhead, Hoddom and the Annan Rivers Trust - find a place.

Fish Spey
Delfur finished with double figures. Gordon Castle landed eighteen with plenty more lost. Rothes also finished into double figures. Grantown Association Water had fish up to 15lb and sea trout up to 7lb. Abernethy and Aviemore Angling Association had twelve salmon to 16lb and seventeen seatrout, with three at 7lb - read more.

Fish Tweed
Congratulations to Ian Morgan fishing Middle Pavilion, on World Fishing Day.
The best weekly catch of the season so far was landed last week, although the season is down on average, it was good to see some decent numbers of fish caught. 122 Salmon and 40 sea trout, with the best fish for the week a 20lb salmon caught on Junction Beat.
The following beats are taking part in this years Sea Trout Festival. On the main river Fairnilee, Horncliffe and Middle Pavilion. Berwick Angling Association on the River Whiteadder, Tiptoe Fishing on the River Till and Charles Brownlow Sporting will be hosting an event on the Teviot. - Read more.
