August. Fluctuations of water levels due to rainfall are keeping the salmon moving now with fish on all the beats up to the middle river around Penrith. The water temperature has now dropped from 70oF to 60oF, the fish are now more responsive to a fly than they were before. There has been a good run of grilse this July/August and it is good to see so many salmon about. Trout fishing good during the clearer water spells. Good river levels now are encouraging fish to move, with the lower water temperatures fish are responding well to the fly. A good number of salmon caught this week beginning 20th up to 15 pounds.
