IGFA Europe & Mediterranean Regional Meeting
Last week, the IGFA held its Europe & Mediterranean Regional Meeting in Barcelona, Spain. IGFA Trustees, Representatives, Captains, Clubs and Members convened from nine different countries to discuss the IGFA's new three-year stategy and to initiate the development of a regional council structure - a key component of the IGFA's initiative to strengthen the organization's international network in order to better fulfill its mission.
IGMR Tags Deployed in Mag Bay
Two satellite tags have recently been deployed on healthy striped marlin in Magdalena Bay, Mexico, with four more to hopefully be deployed in the coming weeks. The data produced from these tags will be of particular interest, as the striped marlin caught off of California and Mexico considered two distinct stocks. With tags programmed to stay on marlin for 240 days, it will be interesting to compare the migratory behavior of these striped marlin to those tagged previously off Southern California.
Kids School Clinic Reaches 250+
Last week on Friday, October 26, 2018, IGFA Trustees, Staff and Representatives participated in an incredible Kids School fishing clinic held in Deltebre, Spain. More than 250 children attended the Kids School event where they spent nearly three hours learning about the basics of angling and environmental stewardship in both a classroom setting and with hands-on casting and fishing.
IGFA Attends AREA Conference
Last week, Lisa Morse, IGFA’s Youth Education Manager attended the Aquatic Resources Education Association (AREA) Biennial Training Conference in Lake Tahoe, California. The theme was “From Ripples to Waves: Amplify Your Aquatic Education Programs”, which is exactly what the IGFA is planning to do in its new strategic plan to educate the next generation of ethical anglers.
