Fish Pal

Written By: Anne Woodcock
On Date: 20/11/2018

Gail and I were answering the FishPal telephones last week whilst our colleagues were enjoying some R&R. We had a "hoot" listening to some of your recent fishing tales.
My week started off with a Bob Dylan quote from a customer who said "Take care of all your memories, for you cannot relive them". He's had a memorable fishing season like a few customers I've chatted to. I also appreciate that some of you have had in the words of Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Hall, "A disaster darling!"
Gerard Beeby contacted me about his fishing trip to the Tyne at Haughton Castle with Tim Walker who had a 24lb fish. The fish surpassed Gerard's "rather pretty 14lb hen fish". Tim did manage to unhook the fish without touching it, which Gerard said "The fish and I are truly grateful that he managed this". They left the Tyne in high spirits and the last I heard they were on their way to fish the river Annan.

Tim's fish caught on Haughton Castle, Tyne.
At the weekend, the North East Fly Casting Club had their yearly Tweed outing and the ladies caught some very nice fish. FishPal's IT Manager, Joe Early, was also enjoying a hard earned break on Tweed and caught fish nearly every day.
If your appetite has been to have a cast before the end of the season on rivers still open, please give Tom a call in the office on (+44) 01573 470612.
We know anglers are already counting down the days to the start of the 2019 season. Tom is speaking with owners and getting them to add their fishing. This is the 2019 availability we have on rivers so far.
If there is a beat showing no 2019 availability and you would like to fish it in 2019, please call the office on (+44) 01573 470612 or email info@fishpal.com.
Please keep calling us with your fishing stories or email them with pictures to info@fishpal.com.
Tight lines

Silk Fly Lines In Sal****er

Silk Fly lines are enough of a novelty to turn most heads when used on a Chalkstream, let alone when using one in Sal****er. Having just returned from casting in the face of the Alisios trade wind on Fuerteventura, Chris was pleased to discover that the same qualities which make these lines popular on the rivers also prevails in the salt.

Bonito on the fly.
Two weeks ago Chris was happily engrossed in preparing for a last minute trip to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. What he was really excited about was the prospect of testing out a Silk Fly Line in the Salt. He is a big fan of silk fly lines, and has used them now for many years in freshwater, but would they perform as well in the Salt? He was eager to find out - read more.

Kevin from Tweedswood reports. Will November go off like a rocket or fizzle away? We've been catching fish that have been in the system for a while during the last week and it's good to see anglers enjoying themselves. I'm being constantly asked what's the winning tactics this week and I can say happy fishers are using Skagit with T10 tips and Red Frances, it's that easy - read more.
