Prospects & General Comments:
River Eden report May 2021.

rd, at last, some rain arriving which will give the river a small lift.
th, a sixteen pound salmon for Warwick Hall today, a few fish seen on the move with the pending rise.
th, a two foot rise of river level with some colour after heavy showers, a north-west wind and still cool conditions. A twelve pound fish from Warwick Hall today caught on the fly.
th, water levels now dropping.
th, river level at ten inches and clear, a thirteen pound fish from above Carlisle.
th, rain all morning giving a slight rise of water today, a ten and a twelve pound fish from the Carlisle area on the fly.
th, water level one foot six inches and clear. Carlisle Angling Association reported six fish from their water last week on the 6th and 7th. A thirteen pound fish caught from above Carlisle. This nice clear lift of water will send the smolts on their way to the estuary at last. It is much warmer today with a southerly wind in our direction, so the trout fishing will pick up now, along with the sea trout entering the river.
th, the river level is now at ten inches and clear with a tint, wind from the south with showers, good hatches and the Hawthorn flies have started. A fresh sixteen pound fish landed from the Lazonby Estates water caught by Alan Sephton today.
th, two fish reported today eight and fifteen pounds above Carlisle.
th, river level twelve inches with a slight rise, showers.
th, water level is now at ten inches with some colour. Three fish, ten, ten and twelve pounds from Warwick hall today, a nine pound salmon from Low House and a twenty four pound fish upstream of Lazonby. Trout fishing still on the slow side while the weather is unstable.
th, the water level is sitting at six inches, a variable but mainly east wind with heavy showers. Good hatches of olives the last few days and the trout at last are responding, coming to the surface for them. One or two salmon came in off today’s tide at last; let us hope it is the start of the spring run proper.
th, river level is eight inches, a few salmon caught from the Carlisle area and a few further upstream the last couple of days to fourteen pounds. An eleven pound fish and one lost at Warwick Hall today.
th, heavy rain on the way, the river may rise later. A seventeen and a twelve pound fish from Warwick Hall today. A few fish to ten pounds reported above Carlisle.
st, river is now on the rise rapidly with much colour.
nd, two and a half feet and dirty.
rd, three fish from Kirkoswald today.
th, two foot and clearing, a twenty pound fish for Dave Haig from kirkoswald today. A sixteen pound salmon for Alan Sephton from Armathwaite.
th, a twenty pound and a twelve pound fish from Armathwaite today.
th, a nine pound fish for Low House,
th, river level one foot three inches, a fifteen pound fish for Brian Warrington above Carlisle on the Kitchen Sink fly, also a twenty four pound salmon from above Carlisle reported today.
th, river level one foot three inches, bright sunshine.
