Prospects & General Comments:
Ian Powell reports from the BLACKWATER LODGE fishery on the Munster Blackwater in Co. Cork. Weather: Heavy rain yesterday. River: This morning the lower river peaked at 2.32m, but was already down to 1.94m by 14.00. Clarity very poor.
Run of Fish: Some springers running. The first two were apparently caught on the river on the first.
Catches: Plenty of kelts and at least one baggot caught on the first day. A few fresh fish seen, but we didn't catch any yet!.
Methods: Out of order at present until this flood abates. As a conservation measure, all bait fishing is banned until all the kelts are safely out of the river.
Where to Meet us: Glenda is demonstrating at the Ireland Angling Show on February 13 & 14th at Cloghran, Swords, Co. Dublin. We will also have a stand at this Fair.
