Salmon Fishing in November

Written By: Fish Pal's
On Date: 1/11/2010

Tweed is continuing to enjoy a sensational season, anglers landed 918 salmon in the first four days of this week. Rods are still available during November from the top of the river at Dawyck to Tweedhill at the bottom and many beats in between. For where to fish, check the Tweed pages. Anglers in the south west can still fish the Urr and the Nith during November. Both rivers can produce some excellent sport with the prized quarry being the famous greyback salmon which run into the Solway in large numbers during November and beyond. Check the River Nith and River Urr find fishing pages.

The river Annan finishes it salmon season on the 15th November. Large runs of salmon and late grilse heading up the river to spawn. This is the time to catch the true giants of the river Annan, salmon that run well past 25lb. How to book fishing on the River Annan.

Anglers can now view all river reports online. If you wish to check availability or book fishing for 2011 please click here. FishPal Shop Now Open
FishPal's new online shop has only been open for business for two weeks but has already proved to be an enormous success.

The biggest seller so far has been Eoin Farigrieve's 'Tweed Autumn' fly selection which is now complemented by 'High Water' and 'Snaelda' selections. Each collection is presented in a FishPal fly box and consists of 10 flies (5 patterns). In addition we also offer the 'Ultimate Salmon Selection' which comprises 20 flies (10 patterns). What's more you can now use FishPal vouchers to purchase items from the shop in addition to fishing permits. Findhorn: a Season of Two Halves
The Findhorn is situated in north east Scotland and flows into the Moray Firth. Spring fishing is normally exceptional with huge fish of over 28lbs. This year a wet, cold start to the season resulted in disappointing numbers of fresh spring run salmon being caught by the angler.

Traditionally by late June grilse and summer run salmon start to enter the river with numbers building through July and August. 2010 was no exception and the start of really fantastic Summer, seeing some wonderful runs of salmon/grilse from early July right through to the last day of the season. During September the rivers were heavily stocked with many resident salmon and grilse. Anglers enjoyed catches of 47 fish caught to 5 rods for the week on the Lethen, including a 20lb cock fish. Glenferness Estate totalled 18 fish for the last four days of the season. Ian Neale released a beautiful 18-20lb salmon on the last week of the season. FishPal would like to thank Ian Neale for producing the Findhorn weekly report from all the fisheries on the Findhorn system.
