CRICK BOAT SHOW 2006:

Written By: Louise McCarthy
On Date: 18/1/2006

THE UK’S PREMIER INLAND WATERWAYS SHOW
VENUE: Crick Marina, Northamptonshire (near Rugby)
DATES: 27 – 29 May 2006 (Bank Holiday weekend)
The dates and theme for this year’s Crick Boat Show have been confirmed! The show will once again take place at the magnificent Crick Marina in Northamptonshire, from Saturday 27 to Monday 29 May (May Bank Holiday weekend).
A record 27,000 waterways enthusiasts, families and day-trippers visited last year’s show, which is organised by British Waterways South East. Exhibition space for the 2006 show is already proving extremely popular and selling faster than in previous years, with organisers expecting all space to be fully booked by mid-February.

Over 250 exhibitors will be on display, including narrowboat builders and fitters, chandleries and canal societies, arts and crafts and leisure wear retailers from all over the UK and abroad. A delicious selection of fresh, organic and local produce will also be available in the show’s Farmers’ Market, which is new for 2006.
The 2006 show theme is ‘Be Adventurous!’, with a range of great activities lined up to get kids and adults alike exploring our waterways and the great outdoors, including bell boating, fly-casting demonstrations, a mobile climbing and abseiling wall, a Supershot Shooting Simulator and lots more.

Crick Boat Show prides itself on not only being a fun day out, but also providing a useful service to newcomers to the waterways and those considering buying a boat. Amongst the full line up of seminars and talks throughout the weekend will be the tremendously popular 'Buying A Boat' presentation by Sawley Marina's Boat Sales Supervisor, Les Jackson, as well as seminars on maintenance, boat safety, and much more.
There will also be plenty of demonstrations not to be missed. Anglia Marina Model Boat Club will be giving demonstrations of their intricate and beautifully built model boats in the Adventure Area, and Sue Woodward will be painting traditional Roses and Castles at her stand in the Clattercote Marquee.
From toddlers to teenagers, kids will find plenty to do at Crick Boat Show with loads of fantastic, fun 'have-a-go' activities, including face painting by the London Narrowboat Project.

Back by popular demand in 2006 will be another incredible aerobatic display, this year by Captain Neville’s Flying Circus, as well as fabulous ferret racing and free boat trips along the canal.

Music lovers will also have plenty to keep them entertained at the annual Music@Crick festival, which takes place alongside Crick Boat Show. U-rhythmix, the UK’s No. 1 tribute band to the music of The Eurythmics will be headlining on Saturday night, and the ultimate glam rock band, The Platforms, will be performing on Sunday.

But if it’s more laid-back entertainment you’re after, you can chill out as you sample one of more than 30 different ales at the show’s popular real ale bar.
