Was recently posted on www.anglingnews.net concerning the Defra consultation on bass measures. The article has since been withdrawn at the request of Defra. The posting appeared to suggest that a Defra official had written the article recommending that letters be sent to Defra in support of a particular option for the management of bass.
Defra would like to make it very clear that neither Defra, or officials within the department, were in any way associated with this article. Defra is pleased that the website understood this and removed the article as soon as the error was brought to their attention.
Defra's consultation on a proposed increase in bass landing size closed on 8th February. There has been a large response to the consultation and there will now be a careful analysis of the responses and the information contained in them. Once this has been completed there will be an announcement on next steps.
