Join NorCal Skindivers and the Recreational Fishing Alliance for a fun and educational diving tournament with team award categories for abalone and rockfish - plus: a silent auction, raffle, educational expo booths, and cooking demonstrations with gourmet food. This dive tourney is in memory of the late, great Randy Fry - avid abalone diver, fisherman, competitive spearfisher and activist for the RFA - who dedicated his efforts to the rights of anglers and divers.
The Randy Fry “Big X” spearfishing tourney will be held Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Ocean Cove Campground, near Fort Ross on the Sonoma County Coast. The public is welcome. Entry fee for divers competing in the tourney is $20; contact tournament chair Dave Edlund to register at edlunds123@comcast.net.
Fish Fry: 12pm - 4pm, RFA's crew serves beer-battered rockfish with all the trimmings. Bring your appetite! Fish Fry open to the public: $15 donation per plate requested. Expo will introduce the public to the sport of spearfishing. Even if you don’t dive, this will be a fun and educational event with lots of good food.
