While many modifications have been made over the years to the tools and accessories of the Swiss Army Knife, its classic shape has remained the same. Now, the new Evolution Series represents the first significant design change to the Swiss Army knife in more than 100 years. “We’ve redefined the Swiss Army knife, drawing out its true design potential without losing what makes it one of the most familiar and recognizable objects in the world, said Thomas Schlapbach of Wenger Switzerland. It was not a question of just making it nicer to look at, or inventing a host of new functions with varying degrees of usefulness: it was a question of making it into something we had somehow always wanted it to be without really realizing it. When you hold the new Swiss Army knife in your hand, you will understand immediately what we mean! The fluid lines of the Evolution have been designed to feel as if they have been formed by nothing more than the contact with your fingers, creating the optimal grip for cutting, trimming, tightening or loosening screws, opening bottles, or performing any one of the hundreds of things a Swiss Army knife can do. The same advancements in technology now make it possible for Wenger to use an injection molding process to make the red and white Swiss cross a permanent feature within the handle, ensuring that this legendary symbol will stand up to all the wear and tear these knives face everyday. it is important for our customers to know we feel the Evolution Series is one of those market-defining products that come along once or twice in a product cycle and is not intended to replace our existing line, but enhance it. We believe its elegant new look and added functionality will bring a heightened level of attention to the Swiss Army knife business and will open the door to a new demographic of buyers. Wenger looked closely at the needs of the end user in designing the new shape and style of their new line of knives. An entire production staff including designers, engineers, technicians and production managers worked for over nine months on the development of Evolution, all searching for the optimal shape while remaining true to the core of what makes the Swiss Army knife a true classic. The new line will feature six knives, four full-size (3.25”) models ranging from five all the way up to ten tools, and two executive-size (2.5”) models featuring a five and eight-tool configurations. The suggested retail prices range from £11.95 to £25.95 depending on the design. Each genuine Swiss Army knife is designed and crafted to Wenger’s commitment of excellence and features a lifetime warranty as proof of their dedication.
