Ballyhass Lakes consist of two superb lakes stocked with rainbow and brown trout, ideal for fly fishing. The lakes are fed by springs through limestone rock and the water is crystal clear. There is a plentiful supply of natural feed that produces healthy active trout.
Once introduced to the lakes, the fish feed only from the fly and insect life and there is evidence that they are breeding successfully in these clear waters.
The lakes have been stocked for over five years but have been only lightly fished so there are some very large rainbows and good size browns. We operate a catch and release policy to preserve stock.
The main lake is 12 acres (fly only) and the upper lake is 2.5 acres (worm, spinning, or bubble and fly). Our facilities include ample car parking, boat hire, rod hire, electronic weighing scales, tackle shop, barbeque areas and rain shelters, toilets; tea, coffee and light snacks are available.
The lakes are open all year - every day from 09.00 to dusk
